Subject: [CR]Bikes to VR

Hello,

Chuck has been requesting I list the bikes I can bring to the VR event. I've procrastinated on this becasue I really have not decided yet, but here's a list:

1971 Alex Singer Randoneur. This the bike I brough to the Cirque. Not entirely original, but a very pretty bike. I received it with at poor refinish and I think the builder would have approved of my interpretation.

1951 Town and Country tandem. Our picnic bike. A classic with "period" custom touches.

1978 Confente Pursuit Track bike. All orignal, a masterwork.

1961 Jack Taylor curved tube. Built for Jerry Collier, I'm told it was intended as and uphill TT bike. The theory was the short chainstays and straight chainline and the quick shifting of the ASC fixed-gear close-ratio hub might prove advantageous. I've owned it since 1979 and it's still a favorite ride on flat or moderately hilly terrain. Also surprisingly light, for a big bike at just 19.2 pounds.

1951 Gillot path racer. I could not pass this bike up. It measures precisely the same, (64CM ctoc ST 60CM TT)as my made to measure Serotta, and even shares the feature of tapered down and seat tubes. I have fitted it out wihe period to drawer steel, right down to the correct whatch mounted to the handlebars.

1951 Durcopp Deluxe roadster. Three speed derailleur successfully mated to a coaster brake hub, matching pinstriped alloy rims and fenders, speedo on headlight and tool box built into the rack. This one is for sale, but I may bring it brecaue it is so lovely and unusal.

1939? Dubois French roadster. Another town bike in orignal condition, with early Simplex driveline. I took this one to San Fracisco for the Aerican Cyclery reopening and over heard Joe Breeze asking who had ripped off "his" design referring to the lateral bracing in the huge frame! Interesting bike.

1940? Follis tandem. All orignal, with Cyclo lever operated deraileur and a dozen fasinating details.

1951 Carlton Longfellow, all British equipped, Cyclo, Wilkiams, Constrictor, GB and the original Catilever, plus my favorite lug pattern. This one is unforgettable.

1976 Masi Gran Criterium. Original. A memento of my time working there.

1983 Raleigh aero roadbike

1982 Greg Diamond/Hamilton prototype tri bike.

Well, I'll stop here... as Susan wisely insists we'll bring no more than will fill the van. We're going to to Pasadena to have fun. Hope to see you there.
