Well, illness and injury will prevent me from coming to Pasadena this weekend. Hope you all take lots of photos for the two or three of us who cannot be there!

BRING ON WINTER

Bring on winter. Bring on cold rainy nights. Bring on violent freezing gales.

Bring on snow-covered mornings. Roll to the edge of the bed, Peak through curtains into the blinding white, Roll back to the warm spot.

Bring on long weekends trapped at home. Bring on dark evenings next to the fire. Bring on holiday lights. faintly glowing nebulae of Red and green and white, Nearly hidden beneath glistening blankets of snow.

Bring on ice-covered roads. Bring on red-cold noses and ears. Bring on heavy woolen jackets, gloves and scarves. Bring on wood fires and burning leaves, Smells you can taste. Winter perfume on a country road.

Bring on the steaming breath of effort As we ride through a silent frozen dawn. Bring on the crunch of ice and salt beneath tires. Bring on snowy crystals growing on cold steel cables.

Bring on winter. Bring it on big. As cold as the Arctic. As barren as an ice cap. As old as a glacier.

For I grow weary of dusty autumn. The fierce heat of summer is gone. The joyful spring rides are long past. Their warm colors have faded too fast.

I cannot bear a long autumn,
So bring on winter at last.
