What we use here is a bracket from the local hardware store. Imagine a large, square-cornered "U" with most of the right leg removed. The left leg is attached to a wall, the bottom holds various wheels, tires, rims, and whatever else you like. The little leg on the end keeps things from sliding off.

They're available in a variety of sizes; I'd guess the one I have sticks off the wall about a yard, plenty of room for a few wheels if you don't mind them touching each other.

Another solution I use is just a long nail on the wall onto which goes a single wheel or rim.

Yet another solution is a small hook hanging from the ceiling, the kind you usually hang bikes from. A pair of wheels will fit on one of these.
