Yeah, I know, and it was a fad in BMX, and there was that early Cali Masi show bike with all the AL parts chrome plated.
What I *thought* I'd heard was that this uses a different solution than is used for plating steel. Maybe just at one picky plating shop? But I should shut up about plating, I was just hoping we had an expert on the list.
