IIRC, the normal SA axle is 6" and is intended for frames of 110 mm or so spacing. There was also a longer axle, 6-1/4" I believe, for AW hubs - possibly for other hubs too. Those worked for 120 frames, but 126 might be a stretch.

If 126 doesn't leave enough threads on the axle, you could space the hub to whatever the max was, and then just crank the axle nuts down to spring the frame in. I have done this. It's a bit inconvenient but not too bad if it's just a few mm. Better though, cold set the frame to 120 (or whatever the comfortable max is on the SA axle) - then you won't have to spring it in each time you put the rear wheel in.

I assume those longer AW axles are hard to find these days but I haven't had to shop for one for about 20 years - anyone know if they're still available? I know I have at least one of the longer AW axles I could sell if you can't find them elsewhere, but I tend to put too a high price on things (I'm the "black hole" type of collector) - let's say $25 incl. shipping in the US. That would be NOS, if I have a used one it would be less.
