Subject: [CR]More frames on offer

I would like to offer two completely refurbished classic frames to CR subscribers:

22.5 INCH CLAUD BUTLER ‘JUBILEE MODEL’

As this frame is currently at the enamellers awaiting painting, the new owner has the unique opportunity to choose a colour scheme!

Although the original transfers on the TT state it is a Jubilee model (this would make it a 1952 frame) the frame number 2431 544 which possibly indicates 1954 as the year of manufacture. The frame is a 22.5 c to top (21.5 c to c.) all-welded lugless design with plain road ends with mudguard eyes. TT length is 21.5 c to c and the wheelbase is 40.5, with 115 mm spacing across the dropouts. As with all CB lugless frames it is a plain finely finished frame with very slender seat stays topped with scalloped fluting. Braze-ons are single DT lever boss, cable stops for rear brake and rear gear, Fork lamp boss and DT pump pegs and an adjuster for the rear mech.

Prior to restoration, the original colour was dark turquoise metallic with script CB logos and Olympic bands on the seat tube. In my opinion lugless frames should be in single colours with understated decals. Possible authentic shades are dark blue or green metallics, pink or dark yellow flams or bright primary colours such as yellow or dark orange.

I have priced this at £350 (to include a good period headset, seat clamp and plain seatpin) plus freight from UK. This includes a single colour of your choice plus 6 inches of new chrome on front and rear forks, and of course the correct Clapham Olympic and Jubilee decals. If you would like a more complex colour scheme, I would quote this at cost. I have some jpegs of it in its original state. The only parts which came with this frame were a front and rear Simplex Tour de France gearset. I am having these plated and restored and am prepared to sell them with the frame if required.

22.5 BOB JACKSON LATE 60s RACING FRAME

This frame is currently at Bob Jacksons and I forgot to measure it before it went. If my memory serves me right it is a 22.5, but I will double check! This is being resprayed in bright orange enamel with blue seat tube bands and headtube. These were the BJ team colours of the mid to late sixties. It has half-chromed forks front and rear. This is a distinctly slender racing frame with Simplex vertical dropouts and little in the way of braze-ons i.e. no gear lever bosses or TT eyes. I will include a set of virtually new band-on Campag gear levers and TT cable clips. It does have tunnels on the BB and derailleur stop on the chainstay.

It has a really attractive fastback seatstay cluster and the lugwork is to my mind perfect. Just fancy enough and really attractive when picked out in white to match the white decals. The frame is being restored because when I got it the original paintwork had been badly damaged on one side and then appallingly re-touched. The frame itself was unaffected.

The price is £350 plus freight from UK. To be sold with a Campag steel headset and Stronglight BB. Again I have some jpegs of it in its original state paintwork.
