Subject: [CR]Frozen pedal spindle

All,

I've got a decent set of SR Royal cranks that I'd like to use, that has unfortunately got a pedal spindle frozen in the left arm. The pedals were toast, so I've stripped the body of the pedal away and am now at a loss as to how to get the spindle out. I've clamped the spindle and put a pipe on the arm and it's not budged (in fact it broke my old vice!). Anyone have some sure-fire tips? I've thought about trying to drill the spindle out but it's basically impervious to my bits and hand drill. :-(

Ammonia? Kroil? Heat? Combinations of things?

Or perhaps someone out there has an SR Royal left crank that's used they'd be willing to part with?
