Hi gang:

Just returned from a neato weekend at VeloSwap and what a great time! I had a chance to meet many list folk and talk about neat old bikes all weekend. Heaven!

There was a small turn out at The HandleBar and Grill friday night.. Sarah Gibson, Greg Parker, Mike Kone, John Barron, Ken Wallace, and myself. Still had fun and a few star struck members of our group went over and chatted with famous Bob Roll, who seemed to be a truly nice guy...

Saturday AM early, things got fast and furious as deals were made amongst vendors before the public ever got to come in the huge hall. We all agreed that the classic bike stuff was a little less this year but there still was a lot! Ray Keener told me that this year's VeloSwap had a record crowd ..many many people packing in that building...

Things that stick in my memory are: - Lightly used Campy aluminum freewheels at $50.00 each! The same seller had a Ron Cooper touring bike with Nervex lugs and really old Wagner fork crown for $120.00! - Brand new Match-built 853 Paramount frames at $200.00@! - Mike Kone had a neat display of his shop's bike lines including modern stuff as well as the Bates and Waterford classically inclined marques. (He had many killer deals in his parts section too!) - The 1980s Mercian "King of Mercia" Shimano 600 bike (in fabulous shape!) that went for $150.00! - A gorgeous Erikson bike (I will put up pictures of this and other stuff maybe tomorrow!) for $27800.00 (unsold) - The Schwinn MTB frames, in the raw, for $10.00 @! - A fellow,. the orig. owner selling a Ciocc, full SR and pantographed early 1980s for a ridiculously low price...(Went unsold too I think)

Sunday AM we stopped by Bicycle Classics new store in Boulder. Mike Kone had breakfast set up for everyone and more killer deals plus some of his collection on display! The writer bought a drop dead neat Legnano, plus some other tidbits! What fun!

In the next day or so I will try to publish pics of all this & more! Stay tuned! Dale
