Garth-

Its the July 1982 issue and the story is titled Italy vs Japan. The italian bike on the cover is a Guerciotti (with the classic decal set). Italian bikes tested were the guerciotti, derosa, and rossin. The japanese bikes were fuji pro, miyata team, and 3rensho.

There was a similar article in the sept. 1983 issue entitled "USA vs. the World".This one featured the gitane, cinelli, KHS pro, Bridgestone, vs. chas roberts, bruce gordon, and our own richard sachs and Mr. baylis.

Pulling out these issues made me realize (again) how far bicycling magazine has fallen (even though my own co-motion co-pilot was in last months issue) and how much I miss it.
