I'm still researching ordinary (highwheel) bicycles, and came across a little factoid that made me smile.

From http://www.eva.hi-ho.ne.jp/ootsu/ordinary/

The Dharma - The name for the Ordinary style bicycle of Japan: >>

I have both an 1886 New Rapid ans well as a newer HiWheel that I ride regularly. The company in the Czech Republic that made this newer one doesn't call it a reproduction, as they designed it and have been making them continuously for a long long time.

This is nothing like the 'Rideable Replica' Hiwheels seen locked up as props outside restaurants.

See http://www.koolstop.com/mesicek/mesicek.html

for info

These Czechs also are experts at restoring all types of old bicycles. We have their bikes on display and for demonstrations.
