okay.... if there is limited point to having a frame with rear 'track' drop-outs. how come they seem to be appearing on more frames.. like Gunnar, Surly, Van Dessel... there must be some advantages.... like not pulling the wheel forward out of the drops??? my road-to-fixed frame conversion project has the real vertical Shimano drops, with no latitude for horizontal play.... and BTW, apropos the other late thread, an esteemed left coast list member sold me a set of 'Vintage' campy pista dropouts at what i guess to probably be near cost.. & sent them to me before he even received my check... I doubt he made a 'killing' or major profit on the deal, but he sure impressed me!!! an example of the theoretical operating of the list realized...... a free market exchange of information & goods.....
