Oh heck, go to a scuba dive shop and get scrap neoprene material, cut into strips, and wrap over it, this is what was commonly used by Cupertino Bike Shop to make a "Spence Wrap" after Spence Wolf.

Also I use a piece of 1" X 1/2" neoprene with a hole cut thru for the valve stem as a "pillow" to cushion the area around the valve stem inside the tire, and I NEVER get pinch flats or abrasions in the area around the valve.
