I was surprised to see interest in Vikings. I picked up a Viking Severn Valley frame in fork at a Cleveland Bike shop in 1975. Over the years it was built up in several different groups of parts and paint jobs . Rode it till two years ago when I bought my Waterford. It now hangs in the basement surrounded by turn of the century bikes waiting to return to what it would have looked like in the early 1970's. Rode a lot of different centuries in the 70's and 80's but only saw 2 other Vikings in all that time and they were track bikes. Were they more common in other parts of the USA? I think they were a mid size company in England that went under in the late 60's or early 70's although the name was later resurrected in Northern Ireland for a time .
I think there was also some sort of relationship between them and Lambert, at least Viking was mentioned in Lambert ads. As far as a paint scheme mine was pretty plain. All dark Green with 6 white stripes on the seat tube and a white head tube. Clem Skehan
