James sent me pictures of this bike earlier and, looking back at his message, I think that I can add a couple of bits of information.

The Alpine decal on the downtube is *very* stylized. The 'A' decal on the headtube and seattube is also faily stylized (in a different style) with the right leg of the A vertical and a horizontal line running through the letter and beyond, on each side, above the normal crossmember of the letter.

The Reynolds 531 butted tubes, forks and stays decals are in English - both of them. There's one at the top of the seattube and one above the clamp on - I think that they're Simplex - shift levers.

It has downtube, but not seattube, water bottle brazeons. The bb cable guides are clamped on. The brake mounts appear to be nutted.

The lugs are very simple. The fork crown is flat.

There's a decal that looks very much like the world champion stripes on the downtube but it looks like a later (or at least a bad) application.
