Subject: [CR]Closing Down Shops...

Just to get this all under one roof, so to speak... it is likely of interest to the List that:

(1) Bicycle Classics, Boulder, CO (Mike Kone) is closing for business, liquidation by February or so.

(2) Bicycle Specialties, Toronto, ONT (Mike Barry) is closing the _retail shop_ on Millwood and moving to another location to become a frame shop (Mariposa) fulltime with plenty of classic parts (TA, Campy, etc) still available plus whatever else you need to outfit a frame. Mike and Tom will also be doing restorations. (They currently have my Herse Federale which really, truly, sorely needed it...I woudl have otherwise left well enough alone...and they brought my 650B Herse back to life...). Mike has had enough of storefronts and wants to devote himself to the frames, restorations, and things he loves. They have new space, bigger than their old frame building space (been there too...). This is a loss because we all love the neighborhood bike shop but it's a good thing. Brooks saddles and some other this and that are at the Millwood store but all the realllly good stuff is not for sale at the liquidation. I asked. Incoming 650b Mariposa!! nearly done!!!

(3) The indomitable and affable BC is Renaissance Cycles in Holland and all is well!!! HI, BC!!! You da' man!!

One more thing: if any one wants a look at my new Rivendell Audax-style bike, a modern classic so to speak, look here: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=236967&a=14045362&f=0 or go to Photopoint.com and type in my email address (dbrk@troi.cc.rochester.edu). If you back up on the folder you can see the other bikes if you don't know the site...a Singer, a few Herse, my Sachs (HI RICHIE!!), and whatever else. It's all just for fun.

Did this help?
cheers,
