Subject: [CR]Big Bike Sale

It's time to clear some room in the garage and raise some cash for pending projects, so three large size bikes are up for sale. I scientifically selected them as the three bikes with the best paint, and hence the easiest to sell. All bikes are at least 24 inches. Pedals not included. Pictures available, just tell me what you want to see. First reply gets em.

1. Miss Gipiemme. Be the first on your block, city, or maybe even state to own a Gipiemme equipped bike. Components are a collection of Sprint, Dual Sprint and Chrono Sprint parts, a few lightly used and others NOS. Only about 100 miles since build up. Complete Gipiemme from headset to hubs, bottom bracket to saddle. Frame is a used mid 80's lugged Trek 660 using True Temper double butted cro-mo tubing, white with red decals. Cosmetically very good to excellent with some normal rubs and paint nicks. Decals are very good. This frame is from the period when Trek was into cast lugs with socketed fittings for the stays both at the seat lug and drop outs. No crash damage, internally rust free. Fork is a Schwinn Tange Cro Mo unit, semi sloping crown, rattle can black re spray. Derailleurs are the rebadged Simplex units made for Gipiemme. Short reach recessed brakes. 52x42 chainrings, with 13-24 six speed Sachs freewheel. Big ring is a Gipiemme panto'ed ring, while the small is a new TA unit. 170mm crank arms, Ritchey WCS 90 degree stem, Cinelli double grooved Del Mundo 44 cm bars (grooves unused). Wheels are newly built with NOS sealed Gipiemme hubs laced to Campy Omega 19 clinchers, 32x14g DT spokes. Tires are Continental 25mm Supersport ultras. Front rim is polished, other is satin silver. 24 inch seat tube (c-t), 22.5 top tube (c-c), 16.25 chainstays, 40 inch wheel base. A light and lively bike (21 lbs on the bike shop scale) while still being stiff enough, but it's a hair too small for me. CR price is $450, you pay shipping, I pay packing.

2. Trek 730. Pictures available at http://www.vintage-trek.com/Trek_galleryTA.htm . Refurbished late 70's Reynolds 531 db frame, dark blue gloss enamel with creamy white head tube and seat tube panels. Clear coated and lugs outlined. Accurate Trek seat tube decals, modern Reynolds sticker. Missing head badge. Components are an eclectic mix, but it's a sweet riding machine. Vintage stuff: wheels are 20 year old Campy NR low flange hubs laced to Mavic G40 clinchers. Brakes are Campy SR units, block print logo, nutted short reach, with excellent condition white shield logo hoods. Aftermarket brake pads, no barrel adjuster O-rings. Derailleurs are a modern 105 rear, a Suntour Lapree front. Shifters are Campy bumpy NR levers mounted to Dia Tech bar con conversion adapters. Crank is an older Shimano Deore 175mm triple with normal wear, 50x40x30 rings. Rear spacing is 120mm, freewheel is a 13x26 ultra six unit. Bar is a Nitto Hi Crown 9cm unit, bars are 44 cm Nitto dream bars, both from Rivendell. Saddle is a Giro Titanium rail, Ritchey seat post. Tires are 25mm Michelin Axial Sport folders. 24 inch seat tube, 22.5 inch TT, 16.25 inch chainstays, 39.5 wheelbase. A few hundred miles on it since the repaint and rebuild, so there are a few small nicks and scratches on the paint, but paint condition is still excellent. None are through to the bare metal. $600, which is less than I have in it but it needs a good home. You pay shipping, I pay packing.

3. '76 Raleigh International. Need a bike for the 2002 Cirque? This is the bike I had posted on Photopoint earlier, before they started charging fees. I've still got the scanned pics here somewhere. Resprayed last year in a Green metallic with clear coat, very close to the original Raleigh shade of green, but glossier. Chrome was very good to excellent, and was preserved. Two sets of bottle cage bosses with diamond reinforcements, HT pump peg and BB cable guides were added during the repaint. Has reproduction Raleigh decals, perhaps not exactly correct for '76 but good looking. One error on decals, painter put an incorrect Reynolds sticker on the bike, but sent me the correct one. I got it on level, but it's rotated about 1/4 of an inch to port off center. You'd probably never notice, but a fault is a fault. Paint has a few rubs and nicks now, but is still excellent.

Bike was built up as a state of the art friction shifter. Campy clamp on DT shifters work a Shimano XTR short cage rear and Ultegra triple front unit. Campy Racing Triple crank (30x42x52 rings), 13-26 six speed Sachs freewheel (frame was spread to six speed during repaint). This is the smoothest and fastest shifting rig I've ever owned. Brakes are Super Alfa centerpulls by Zeus, I believe. Aftermarket pads. Levers are Dia Compe units with the built in quick releases. (with these brakes, pads and levers, you stop RIGHT NOW!) Front brake straddle wire hanger also has a quick release, to ensure clearance for the Rivendell Roly Poly tires. Wheels are low flange Campy NR hubs laced to Sun CR 18 rims, 36x14g DT spokes. Light and super strong hoops. Bar and stem are Nitto Technomic Deluxe (the good looking one) with 44cm Nitto Dream bars, ala Rivendell. Saddle is an Avocet Air 40 steel rail model. 24.5 inch seat post (c-t), 22.5 inch top tube, 16.5 inch chainstays, 40.2 inch wheel base. A sweet rider, tons of fender clearance even with the big tires, would make a good audax, commuter or century bike. $750, you pay shipping, I pay packing.

All bikes will be packed and shipped by Old Town Cyclery in Lenexa, operated by list member Sarah Gibson. Please give my babies a good home.
