I've had an Atax seatpost fail under me and it certainly WAS unpleasant. Fortunately, road rash was the worst consequence of that crash.

The sleeve is only in the seatpost clamping area, and of course where the post failed was just below the saddle clamp--the place where it flexed so dramatically to give that nice suspension effect!!! I guess a sprung brooks is a better solution to that problem!!!
