Have you read "The Custom Bicycle" by Kolin and de la Rosa? It's a must. Of course I am equally inspired by "Hearts of Lions" by Peter Nye - a wonderful acount of the legends who rode these bikes.

I am up to page 263 of The Dancing Chain. What a work! I have not been at this long, but have to believe that these people have set the standard.

Now I am on the hunt for a similar work on frame development. Any suggestions?

Or suggestions regarding any technical history books on bicycling?
