Subject: [CR]Any idea on this frame?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a frame which I am trying to identify.

The frame is quite light. It has been repainted and has no decals on it other than a small Reynolds 653 decal on either side of the front forks. The seat tube and top tube lugs are quite elegant with little heart-shape (slightly more curved than triangular) cut outs. The rear drop outs are stamped with 'Columbus'. There are no other stampings anywhere else on the bike.

This looks like a quality frame, the lug work is very good. The rear brake cable is threaded inside the top tube.

The frame is currently running 14 speed Shimano 600 (there is no evidence that the rear stays have been widened).

I have no idea how old the frame is or what it is made of (though it is quite light, also verified by my local bike mechanic). I wonder what I have here in regards to the manufacturer and the frame material.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it possibly a full Columbus frame or are the drop outs merely a columbus product and the rest of the frame unknown??

thanks

Peter
