Group-- I would appreciate any background and imput from anyone knowledgeable regarding the Louison Bobet Cycles.. I had a couple of NIB rear Huret derailleurs with that name on the box. While visiting my sister in Tangier, we wandered into a mud hut that had a dozen bikes hanging from the ceiling-- I only got a quick glance at a Bobet and a Bertin before the female contingent dragged us away. My brother-in-law nicely went back later and paid a small fortune for the Bobet, and paid them extra to remove the components that he felt I wouldn't need. Then he paid $50 to have a crate built and another small fortune to ship it to Seattle for me. It was way too small for me and had Shimano dropouts--not the thing to put an early 50' seraliieur system on-- so, I traded it for an old Cinelli-- making it a very expensive Cinelli!

I currently have an ebay special that has stamped dropouts, mid range Huret gear and a Nervar steel triple-- basic bike-- but has a lot of charm, for some reason. I'd be interested in a bit of the background and history if any one knows!

Thanks-- Nelson Miller PS The headbadges are neat, anyway!

The only place I ever saw Loiuson Bobet bikes for sale was the Cyclo-Pedia catalogue, when Gene Portuesi ran CycloPedia. The urban legend back then was that the Bobets were just private-labeled Merciers. I cannot vouch for that. If Dale wants, I can send the catalogue pages for posting on the CdO web site -- if they arent' there already.
