Hi Tom,

I have no idea where the model 39 fits in the Ideale saddle line up (can anyone provide a listing and description of models and pecking order?). I do know from experience as Peugeot fanatic in the '70's that I very rarely saw any saddle on any PX-10's except the Brooks Professional (small rivits). Occasionaly I saw some fitted with Ideale 80 saddles, including the one originally fitted to my 1977 PX10LE but that was pretty uncommon. This is based on what I observed here in the North East - similar situation I assume elsewhere?

Subject: [CR]Ideale Saddle question

Through a bit of good luck, I've managed to acquire an Ideale model 39 in lightly used condition. The rivets are tiny, it has saddle bag loops and black painted rails.

Where does the #39 fit in the Ideale line? How does it differ from a #90? Is this a lower level saddle (quality wise), or is it different some other way? Would it be period correct on a '75 PX10?

The leather seems plenty thick and the saddle feels a bit lighter than a typical Brooks. It may be a tad shorter from base to nose.

Any info appreciated. Thanks.
