By the way, I have great respect for Berto's opinions regarding the shifting abilities of derailleurs. The tests he performed around 1980 were the only objective comparisons of derailleur shifting ability that I've seen. Nevertheless, a Nuovo Record mechanism is still more collectable than a Suntour VGT, regardless of which unit shifted better. Perhaps someday, when it has all but disappeared, the early Suntour stuff will be valuable due to its importance to subsequent derailleur design. But not quite yet... But in the case of California Masis I would have to disagree with Berto. It strikes me that in this case his opinion is the one shaped by prejudice. Best regards, Fred Rednor
