>>>>when were the last old logo gum brake hoods produced, the ones with the "rays" on them."<<<<

I posed this question a short while back while in the process of rebuilding my '81 Trek 959 (now in the hands of Larry Black). The bike was all original and almost used, but suffered from basic neglect. The parts were all matching PAT 81 Record/Super Record and the brake levers had badly deteriorated "World" logo hoods. In response to my inquiry, several people indicated that the "Shield" logo was appropriate for '81. This reinforces my belief that there was substantial overlap in the phasing out/in of new model bits and pieces, and that no one knows any "absolute" cut-offs or change-over dates for a lot of Campy parts. After pursuing info on this particular part, I believe that there was a transition from globe to shield that spanned several years, from about '79 to '81 or so.

But, hey, what do I know!
