Subject: [CR]Recent squabbles & discontent on the CR list....

I got back from a looong day doing support at a mountain bike race... I have been working 12 hours + a day to move CDO... and the shop is still split, with half in the new joint and half across the street with the landlord having a fit that I am not out... And now a bunch of you are creating strife and havoc on the list.. Great. Just dandy. Geez folks!.

Let me step up & comment on a few points:

- I am sorry Brian left and I am glad he's back as I consider him a true friend and tops in every area that counts in this bike stuff. But I still don't relish him duking it out with Jim or anyone else though. I don't think of my wants for this list as PC but maybe romantic... I want (ha!) harmony and camaraderie (fat chance?)

- I confess even I, an early Masi owner, am getting a little OD'ed on the Confente/Masi story. That doesn't mean they are not worthy bikes, etc., etc., but there are many other topics-marques that get a short shrift and I would like balance...

- I don't mind lurkers.. It seems that sometimes some of us might be better off lurking and talking less.. especially when it really doesn't add to the communal knowledge base. Folks who just read the CR are fine with me.. Geez, isn't there enough mail as it is? I honestly think that some of us who send messages all the time might be smart to wait a day or whatever before just "blurting out" a response as we read the CR posts.

- Chuck Schmidt doesn't make me mad or think he is an asshole or whatever. I think that is because I know him and his peculiar twisted wit. I DO understand how folks could take him in a way that might lead to bad inferences! So he really should follow my ("PC"?) warnings about using humour or attempts thereof on this list. No matter how hilarious you think you are being, someone will surely take it the wrong way.

- I know the archives stink, not searchable and stop at a certain point.. but I cannot control that. Sorry.

- I am also sorry to see other folks leave I value a lot like two recent casualties, Greg Parker & Steve Sombrino, but I kinda feel like the bike magazine editor who has to read letters like "Cancel my subscription because of that stupid article in your last issue!" I really cannot control the content of this list, just set up some rules that hopefully would have steered things in a direction that had some chance of success..

- So... If you gotta quit, just can't stand it anymore, I understand. If you are willing to play by the rules, you are ALWAYS welcome back.
