Brian,

A Hobbs of Barbican was my dream bike because my dad, now 77, had a yellow fixed gear Hobbs in the 1940s after the war.

I eventually managed to pick up a late 1940s model earlier that has been repainted and I've no idea which model it is.

It's due to be repainted shortly-yellow obviously-and I'm hoping to get a pair of Airlite/Conloy wheels to set it up as a fixed gear so that I can wallow in the nostalgia. I've got a Chater Lea chainset away being chromed and will probably use GB bars and brakes and a Swallow saddle.

The only problem is it's a little big for me. The 23-inch seat tube I can handle but it has a very long top tube and I'll have to use a very short stem to make it work.

If any list members have a 22-inch Hobbs with a 21.5-inch top tube and would like a swap, please get in touch!

Bruce
