No doubt someone crashed before, and either the Dawes fork was damaged, or was taken to repair another bike with a bent fork. I suppose it's inevitable because a properly designed fork is supposed to deform in a crash before the frame, thus creating a need for replacement forks and leaving some frames without their front legs. I've got two frames that I'm searching for decent replacement forks that aren't aluminum, petro chemical, unicrowned, or otherwise offensive. Boy, if someone had a decent quality steel threaded crowned fork for sale at around $150, I'd be seriously looking.
