With the events of the last two weeks I have decided to extend the deadline for the $30 entry fee from today, September 21st to September the 28th, next Friday.
If there is any possible way for you to attend, please do. The list of bikes that will be on display is nothing short of phenomenal and the list of people attending is too! I think everyone will get a kick out of the Symposium. It looks to be very entertaining and educational besides ;) and the BBQ, bike show, parts exchange Sunday should be unforgettable.
There are CR list members coming from New York City, Boston, Kansas, Arizona, Washington, and Japan!!! Again... you don't want to miss this event if it is all possible for you to attend.

Venues:
La Casita del Arroyo, Pasadena -- Built in 1933, this "little house" is
constructed of stones from the famous Pasadena Arroyo and wood from the
1932 Los Angeles Olympic Velodrome
that had been built inside the Rose Bowl Stadium for the Olympics. It's
nestled in the rustic Arroyo Seco close by the Rose Bowl, an area noted
for its 1900s Arts & Crafts Movement
bugalows. The architect was Myron Hunt who also designed the Rose Bowl
Stadium, Huntington Hotel [now Ritz-Carlton], Pasadena City Hall and
Pasadena City Library.

Schedule: October 6, Saturday -- Velo Symposium (guest speakers, discussion and featured discussion bike display), 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at La Casita del Arroyo (lunch will be catered), followed by a vintage bike ride in the afternoon and dinner at a local restaurant. Speakers so far: -Brett Horton on collecting historically significant jerseys, photos, and posters with some items from his collection. -Brian Baylis on building frames with just a file, a vise, and a torch with some examples of his work. -Rex Gephart on a photo visit to the Masi Workshop under the Vigorelli Velodrome in Milan. -Seth Finkelstein with a show and tell on derailleurs from the 1930s, 40s and 50s. -Dennis Crowley on Pasadena cycling lore (ie: the Tournament of Roses and Rose Parade started out as a bicycle race and bicycle parade). Tentative speakers so far: -Owen Mulholland on the Tour Legends, The Giants of the Road, and his upcoming book on vintage racing history. October 7, Sunday -- Vintage bike ride at 9 am from Brookside Park, followed at 11:00 am by vintage bike show, parts exchange, and BBQ picnic. The food and drink will be provided. The bike show will be judged by the bike show entrants (a tally of three votes from each entrant: first, second and third choice). The parts exchange will be a very low-key swap meet, since we will be in a grassy, secluded picnic area.
Entry Fee: $30 for two days that includes a catered lunch Saturday, BBQ Lunch Sunday plus admission to all events. Late entry after September 28 will be $40.
Event Hotel:
Old Pasadena Courtyard by Marriott hotel. This is a very nice, new hotel
built in a style reminiscent of the 1900s Arts & Crafts Movement and is
located in Old Pasadena one mile from
both days' events. Highly recommended!!! Group Rates have been arranged
for Velo Rendezvous entrants. Reservations for the event will be made by
individual attendees directly with

Old Town Pasadena:
Old Pasadena is today what Westwood Village was a decade ago: L.A.'s
premier pedestrian neighborhood, where car-weary Los Angelenos can
actually stroll, window-shop, and dine in a
relaxed outdoor, urban setting. The neighborhood dates back to the
1870's and the entire district is on the National Register of Historic
Places. There are over 70 restaurants in the eight block
area.
