Dale,

Several people pointed this out to me the first time it was listed. There was something odd about it but I couldn't figure it out until a day or two ago. I am the only person with the genuine first generation Wizard decals. This bike has the original Wizard decals on it but it is not the original paint job. Here's the story.

I think that was the frame Mike Howard built for himself when we were building Wizards. The repaint and the braze-ons are NOT original. The repaint was done by Medici (Gian Simonetti and Mike Howard) at which time the braze-ons were added. I sent Mike the original decals. Simonetti probably painted it. That color is not like the colors I mixed up while painting original Wizards. The cutouts in the lugs would also have been trimmed.

The frame has no serial number on it. If I could get a look at the BB shell I could tell wheather the BB shell had been replaced which would explain the lack of serial number. Mike taught me (through my seeing several bb shell failiers on frames he brazed) to go to the point of overkill in cleaning parts before assembly and brazing. By the time I was making frames on my own and brazing them myself, I was already deeply involved in the parts cleaning fetish.

This frame is a reasonable example of the Wizard species but is not "original" by the deffination we all understand. Good luck to anyone who is interested in bidding.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA Has the sun been comming up every day lately? The chain on my vice stand that connects to my leg isn't quite long enough to reach a window. I suppose if I really wanted to know I could gnaw my leg off and go take a look.
