Fellow CR types.., a co-worker has this bike, which appears to be a 1983 Trek 500; check the following link: http://www.vintage-trek.com/TrekBrochure1983Part1.htm This link of course was taken from the vintage trek website. This bike actually was once originally purchased / owned by my brother-in-law, and he was going to throw it out in the garbage. Perhaps this bike stretches the definition of "vintage lightweight" as we have come to know it? It is early 1980's, it is steel (501, 3 main tubes), but it is NOT light! Thing is a tank! Anyway, check out the link for a detailed component list & description - this is the bike. Size 22.5", center to top. Pewter with blue panel. Not wanting to violate CR rules here, but my friend does want to sell the bike perhaps on e-bay and he is wondering what it might be worth? To me, the frame would make a nice fixed gear project, other than that...?? Thoughts?? Richard Rose (Toledo, Ohio) P.S. no personal interest in this bike other than saving it from the junk heap.
