Subject: [CR]The list from a newbie's perspective

Hi,

I'm quite new to this list, but not lists in general. Of late I have noticed some exchanges and issues come up that have some 'tone' to them. I just wanted to say my piece about the list, to maybe give an important perspective.

No list is perfect, and I bet many on this list could name *something* that they would like to have improved. That said, in a real short time I have been handed loads of information in a manner that is friendly, and pretty much totally free of attitude. I've had list members end up doing leg work on my behalf, tracking down information for me and they really don't know me from Adam.

It saddens me in a way to know that within the vintage community there are some people that knowingly deceive others for financial gain. Because of that, I'm happy to know that people on this list are looking out for others interests by pointing out errors for example on eBay auction items. So far, I haven't seen those corrections done in a challenging, pedantic, or elitist way.

So, thanks for the welcome I've been give, thanks for the responses to my questions, thanks for the humor that has been injected into some of the off line exchanges that were generated by my questions, and to other newbies on the list, it seems like a fine forum to me.
