All this frank talk of trade framebuilders in England made me wonder about the situation in France. I'm pretty much convinced that the LeJeune frames, for example, were built by a trade frame builder. I was able to ask Marcel LeJeune about it when I visited his premises in 1983. Of course I was given a really vague, cryptic answer.
Meanwhile back in the states, I was able to ask Mel Pinto the same question and once again received a vague, crytic answer. (Except, at that point I knew it wasn't due to the limitations of my French vocabulary.) Clearly there were trade framebuilders in France, at both the mass produced and quality hand-built levels.
But who were they?
