I had positive experiences with their tires and their touring shoes and ordering their stuff through the Palo Alto catalog, which was the creme de la creme of bicycle catalogs back in the '80s (I have a bunch of bike catalogs from the late 70s/early 80s- they're a hoot to look through, especially seeing the prices for things that are now unobtanium).

But my Avocet cyclometer was just an elegant piece of crap. The battery contacts periodically corroded, which caused the display to fail. After it literally flew out of its mount when I hit a small bump in the middle of a century ride, I removed the whole shebang and it got sold at the next garage sale for 1/6 of what I paid for it.

I have an old mechanical Huret cyclometer that I'm thinking of using again. Never had ANY problems with that old clunker.
