hello,

mr Brown's comments bring to mind a question about Suntour Superbe Cranks requiring Suntour Superbe bottom brackets (spindles)... reports of this necessity are to be found on the Rivendell website:

" This crank requires a special spindle taper so if you can't get a Superbe Pro bottom bracket you must get the Phil (part number 12-049)." (see url ref below)

am wondering if cr readers have had experience with this situation or have used Superbe cranks with other than Superbe or Phil spindles without (or bike gods forbid, with) mishap?

does this need extend to all Suntour crank/spindle situations or just this (Rivendell catalog's) particular Superbe?

and last, what would have prompted Suntour to produce a crank which would be thus not compatible with other square drives? or, for that matter a bb spindle which is *only* compatible with cranks of their particular manufacture?

thanks for any time spared for this,
