In answer to Fred's tool kit, I would consider they were made with the idea as an emergency tool kit to be taken along with puncture outfit when out riding. When carried and used for this purpose the would last for years.

Mafac produced many types of tool kits all in metric with the basic ones Kit No 45,46/P and 48 /P. The 46 & 49/P included the use for moped and scooter. The Lambretta and Moto Service kits were some of larger range for motorised bikes only. The price in 1963 for the bike kits varied from around seven shillings to twelve shillings in the old British currency. At that price the quality was fairly good as mine have proved to be over many years of use .Hope these comments help in defence of these wonderful little tools!
