Hi Dale,

I know a little bit about Doc Morton through my friendship with the late Ted Harper. I have also seen a handfull of them up close. It is my understanding that Doc Morton was an employee at CCM (maybe one of their framebuilders?) who would make special bikes on the side for worthy riders.

Ted had two bikes build for him by Doc Morton, one in '35 and the other in '36. Ted preferred the earlier bike which had more common diameter seat stays vs. the later bike that had really thin "pencil" stays. There was nothing really fancy in the lug work, certainly nothing frivilous, although the lugs were cut away and lightened compared to a similar period CCM Flyer. On all of the Doc Mortons that I have seen, the components were always CCM Flyer - cranks, chainrings, etc.

I have some photos of the Doc Morton's that were in Ted's collection, plus a couple of other ones. When I can get access to a scanner, I'll post a few off to you.

P.S.: The 1000km roller ride went really well on the weekend. I finished at 1:15pm Sunday afternoon, with Mark about an hour behind me. After a meal and a rest, I added another 32km and Mark another 18km - we had one person pledge us $100 + $10 per km above 1000km, so the prime was worth $500!

Cheers,

Larry
