Hi Zack, My advice is don't repaint it. I have a similar situation with an old Frejus and what I am going to do is polish the heck out of the bare steel and clear over it. The clear isn't permanent, you have to re-do it every so often depending on conditions. The paint on the Frejus, has patina, there is lots of hand striping and to re-do it so it was the same would cost a fortune. You can't replace original decals. A re-paint, if done professionally, would involve different material decals that require clearing over. It's a different look. If you repaint your obscure frame, you'll end up with just another old bike with a fresh paint job. If you make that steel shine, and clear it, you'll have saved something quite uncommon and kept the patina. It won't be perfect, but it will retain much of it's original charm and beauty.
