Hello all,

just to clarify the situation on Bates frames as the question has arisen again.

All Bates Cantiflex frames that are being made are sold by Classic Bikes (me). Classic Bikes has the rights to the Bates name which is a registered trade mark and Reynolds will only draw Cantiflex tubes for Classic Bikes. As Ron Cooper is the best frame builder that I know, he builds all the (new) Bates frames that we sell, we do sell used ones every now and again and as Ron has only being building frames since '46 some of the earlier ones were not made by him! All finishing is done by classic bikes.

For any one that is interested Bob Reid has pictures of a '35 Vergrandis that he is about to restore on his Flying Scot website

If you are interested in buying a Bates, then please contact me at this email address. The frame that was on ebay is now bound State side.

As far as smaller frames are concerned, re head tube transfers, it was a problem in the past, but we have just produced a small frame variant of the head tube transfer. Cast head badges are available as well!

Regards Martin Coopland, my season starts tomorrow and they are forecasting snow again in Aberdeenshire!
