Subject: [CR]Durham Elliptical's

Now I know there are a few other old f**ts like me that remember these. Elliptical chainrings were supposed to improve the physiological act of pedalling.. to make it smoother. They also had some mumbo jumbo about acceleration etc.. Anyway, this is in the age-old category of devices like the cranksets (sorry.. forgot the name, but look on the CR website under "oddities"??? or something like that) cranksets that have several 90 degree bends in the crank arms. Come on.. I know you all remember "biopace"... same idea.

This is actually one of the first "straws" that broke the camel's back when it came to me reading "Bicycling". Being familiar with Durham's ellipticals I about fell over laughing when every few years... (think Biopace).. these came back as the newest Hot IDEA. With few exceptions, just about everything in cycling has an almost direct antecedent.. Almost nothing new under the sun...

And, no... I don't want or need one. I already spent my "oddity" money on a pair of Cinelli "death pedals" that I never intend to ride upon.
