I've been nagging tire companies for years about the need for a 28-571 (650 x 28c) tire, but they mostly seem to believe that there is no demand for such a size.

Lots of folks have bought tri/time-trial bikes, or small road bikes that use this 26 inch size, the found that the only tires available were super-skinny racing tires, giving a choice between a tooth-rattling harsh ride, or the risk of pinch flats if a lower pressure is used.

At last, a reasonable general-purpose tire is available to fit these bikes, the new Terry Tellus ST. See: http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/tires.html#571
