Paul Patzkowski asked what parts to find and install to make his '51 Lenton Sports rideable and in character.

I'm also doing a Lenton Sport 2 ways. First as a rider and second with all the period correct stuff. Fortunately I have all the original stuff except levers, calipers, trigger, tape, and rubber. Unfortunately, most of it is in fairly rough shape.

The bike was originally equipped with unhooded steel brake levers that mounted low on the hooks of a bar that had a more rounded "pista" kind of a shape than a modern Maes bend. The brake cables were also leaded at both ends. \

With that in mind, here's what I've found for riding while I repair or replace the authentic bits.

- GB alloy bar and stem from the late 60's / early 70's

- CLB alloy levers with brown hoods (don't like Weinmann levers)

- steel calipers from a 60's Raleigh Sports

- SA-AW from anytime (I found an alloy shell)

- Raleigh F Hub from anytime (fork is set for 88mm (3.5") OLD)

- Brooks B17 (replacing B15 of same shape)

- Bluemels Clubman (flat w spear-point) mudguards

- 26 x 1 1/4 (EA1) alloy rims / tyres from Univega dealer (used on early 90's small road bikes)

One could stuff up to 622-28 tyres in there as well. Or go with the more easily available 26 x 1 3/8 (EA3). Or maybe even 650B are becoming more available than 26 x 1 1/4.

I'm sure you've all seen the CR entry at: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British/Raleigh_Lenton.htm
