Hi all:

I met Maynard just about a year ago. I was standing, with one of my bicycles at my side, near the pits at the annual criterium in Visalia, California. I didn't know Maynard from the man in the moon, and I have to tell you all that it was my red '59 Bianchi Competizione that caught his attention and made him walk over to where I was standing just to copliment my nicely preserved bike and introduce himself to me. In spite of the fact that his mode of transportation was a very fast looking red motorcycle, which I believe he was using as a lead motor for some of the races, I thought he was a very nice guy, and his interest in bikes old and new is genuine. Just my humble opinion and .02 worth.

In sunny Fresno, California, U.S.A., where I rode a 60 miler deep into the hills yesterday, and a 55 miler around the old Friant Road Race course (in reverse) today. The hills are green, the wildflowers (lupine, baby blue eyes, california poppies, buttercups, popcorn flowers, redbud trees, and many more) were in bloom, and the occasional hawk could be seen perched on a fence post.
