Subject: [CR](CR]Copake Report-II

Just to add a few comments to Jamie's previous report...

I arrived at about 9:00am, a bit bleary eyed as I had just returned home from a business trip that morning at 2:00am and then got up at 6:00am to get to the show.

I had the opportunity to meet Jamie Swan, Paul Lee and Larry "Mr. Heebeegeebee" Osborn from our list. Larry and I hung together for a while and I certainly enjoyed his company and humor.

All the vendors that Jamie remarked were there and I don't believe he left anyone out. Sam Fitzsimmons was indeed in good health and I purchased a set of NOS Lyotard Berthet platform pedals from him for $40 which seems better then the going rate for NOS. I also was able to take advantage of the deals from the vendor selling all the NOS Raleigh goodies and other stuff including clothing. $10 a pair for pure wool Protog shorts was a great deal so two pair found their way into my bag along with some nice original caps (as you see him selling lately on ebay) at $5each or in my case 4 for $15; another good deal in my estimation.

Best deal of the day was from the individual Jamie mentioned that had been trying all morning to sell everything as one lot. When he realised nobody was going to purchase the whole enchilada, he finally decided to have his fire sale. Larry Osborn and I started on the big dig. We were both fruitful and I picked up the following: NOS silver Blackburn handlebar waterbottle cage, 2 sets NOS Christophe black toe strap sets, one set NOS Salmo (never heard of them before) toe straps with buttons, NOS unopened tin of chain wax, 2 NOS Silca frame fit pumps, 2 NOS Parker freewheel removal tools, NOS set of bullseye pullys, and best of all a pair of mint used Hi-E hubs - high flange rear and low flange front. As we accumulated the goodies we put them in red bags the vendor provided and when I asked him to figure a price, he didn't even look in the bags - he justs picked them up, felt how heavy they were, and then said "feels on the lighter side of $10, how's that sound?" I can assure you I gave him a ten doller bill faster then he could change his mind! When I left, Larry was still packing more red bags full of goodies! Larry - what'da get? Regarding the Raleigh International's and Pro's he has, I inquired and he has only 1 24" International available and sans wheelset as that was sold separately. He also has two Pro's; one is a MK IV in 22.5" for $2400 and the other is a MK V in 23.5" for $2200 - certainly no bargains there.

So, considering how small a swap meet it is for vintage leightweight goodies, it was certainly a very worthwhile and enjoyable day out.
