Subject: [CR]Classic Jerseys Using Modern Fabrics

Friends, I recently bought this sort of jersey from a shop in France, called Cycles Marcarini. The jersey is pretty nice, a copy of Poulidor's from the GAN-Mercier-Hutchinson era. Marcarini has a web site, which reminds me of my French bicycles - super sophisticated in some senses and pretty crude in others. In their case, it's probably due to the fact that the company is actually not very large, despite the expectation that you get from their advertisements. Anyway, here's how to get to the page with the classic jerseys: - go to http://www.cycles-marcarini.com - When you're on the home page ("Accueil"), click the button on the left that says "Commander" (i.e. "To Order"). There are other ways to get to these jerseys but those eventually direct you to this place anyway. - On the page that comes up, look for Equipment on the upper left of the page. - Cliquez-vous on "Maillot-Mythiques" and you're there! - For the long sleeved jerseys, scroll down and click on Mythique-ML (i.e. Manches Longues) - MC (for Manches Cortes) gets you back to Short Sleeve stuff. I'm not sure how best to handle ordering. If you go to their Service page it says that they do not yet have a secure site and mention that it's preferable to fax your credit card number after placing your order. Of course you can also do this by phone! I don't know if Marie-Louise, who takes the orders, speaks English but it can't be any worse that ordering from Nashbar in French. Perhaps one of our English brethren has some experience with these guys or about ordering from France in general? They also always have an advertisement in the back of Veló Magazine. It actually has some information about ordering from overseas that isn't on the Web site. I'll try to figure it out and send another message to the list when I get home. One last thing. I won't be able to attend the Cirque but I might be able to send the jersey down there with a friend if there's any interest. Fred Rednor - in Arlington, Virginia (but I did have a drink at Bistro du Coin last Saturday evening)
