Patrick:

On my all chrome-plated '73 Bob Jackson track bike I have a pair of the Mavic rims which you ask about. I built those wheels in 1977 when I was riding on San Jose, CA's Hellyer Park Velodrome, and learning about what components needed to be stronger. That's when I went from 28 hole, 280 gr Martano rims on Zeus high flange track hubs to the Record du Monde de L'heure 36 hole rims on Campagnolo high flange track hubs. The main difference being the 8 spokes per wheel. Is your rim gold anodized? I have really only seen the one pair that I have, and they are gold. I believe I purchased mine from Terry Shaw of Shaw's Lightweight Cycles, San Jose (now Santa Clara), CA. I believe he might be able to tell you more about the rims you are asking about if you were to contact and ask him. I hope this will help you out a little.
