All things that we purchase throughout a lifetime have an expected useful life.With proper design, guideline usage,proper maintenance,& vigilance most items will meet or exceed those expectations. Unfortunately some will not.Why do we insist on dwelling on the ones that don't & then summarily assume that all are potentially faulty? Remember all of the trouble free usage & pleasure not the infrequent disappointments.

for as long as i can remember... every campagnolo part that i have bought from an importer for the purpose of fitting on a bicycle and/or reselling has come in a box and in that box was a factory supplied piece of paper stating the limitations of use, the warranty implications, and how to exercise your rights if there is a broken or defective part.all the contact information is on these pieces of paper.
i think the 'broken crank' thread, borne out of the ebay-ed paletti bicycle, has raised too many of the wrong eyebrows. by this i mean i have never seen the cranks worthy of the horror stories i've read about here and other places. i'm foggy on this; did dale and chuck also mention similar a experience? i.e. cranks don't 'just' fail...yes-after making hundreds of thousands of them over 5 decades, all installed by mechanics and homebodies of varying degreesof expertise and used in all sorts of conditions-there are bound to be a few problems. i don't think that the cranks deserve the attention they are getting; they are dependable in my book. always have been! e-RICHIE chester, ct
