That was a road bike and the cranks was in Mark's 3rd category. Regular "webbed" joint, raised pedal area and no caps. I think Mr. Toda was right about the track raised pedal area persisting longer. My circa 1963 Frejus track bike, #86007, stolen in Washington Heights NYC about 20 years ago had a raided lip and inch pitch chainring. Also I would speculate the track cranks were thicker- a very robust arm.
