Hi Warren,

In the USA, this TA 3-pin crankset (cannot be made a triple) was commonly used on Raleigh Competition bikes in the 1973-77 time frame. Some people may find a TA 6-pin crank more desirable for distance rides (can be converted to a triple chainwheel crank) while others may like the 5-pin road sets... it is really a matter of personal choice. I worked at a Raleigh dealer as a bike mechanic and these were on my first Competition!
