All CR's:

I vaguely recall that Campy did do an "economy" model corkscrew that was part plastic. I remember that black was one available color, but I don't remember the other colors (blue, red?).

I've used my silver Campy corkscrew for over fifteen years now, and it does make the wine drinking "job" that much more fun and easy (hic!). However, the newest trend for wine (which I heard on National Public Radio last week) is that more and more high end vineyards are experimenting with screw tops (no, I'm not kidding) to seal their wines. There is an issue of cork bacteria contaminating the wine and degrading the flavor. Estimates for contamination range as high as five percent.

So, regretfully, the Campy corkscrew may become obsolete. But I sure as hell hope not!
