Heck, the Super LeTour 12.2 was my first "good" bike and I used it to RACE as USCF Junior. About the only thing I did to it was put on a pair of Paramount P-3 tubular wheels (yes, the Dia-Comp brakes had enough reach for the 700C wheels!) and replaced the SR crank with a stiffer Sugino Super Mighty Comp unit. It was made by Panasonic (National) and was a really decent, but not "great" bike. As you noted it was very comfortable to ride. The all-chrome frame and forks turned a lot of heads on training rides. I'll bet the other club riders thought I was on an all-chrome Paramount. ;-)
