It looks like Sheldon has the scoop on the Superior. It looks according to his site to be a 1962 or 1963. The 62 had 26" wheels!!!! I will have to check that. Brian in Berkeley

I took the long way home last night in the balmy weather and wandered down through the industrial waste lands of Oakland and I discovered to bikes dumped in the road along with all sorts of other demetrius of our consumer society. I had a feeling this was going to be more than just trash. The first bike was huffy grade but the second was a Schwinn Superior. I ended up lugging the Superior home 6 miles on my shoulder after finding some corrugated cardboard for padding. The Superior is red with a chrome fork, chrome quarter stays and a large chromed panel on the seat tube. The bike had an aluminum SuperSport Bar and a lugged style steel stem. Bronze brazed chrome molylebdeum frame, early Weinmann Vanquier brakes that are embossed rather than decaled and riveted rather than bolted construction. The saddle was replaced, the derailluers were Huret Allvit, Forged huret dropouts, beautiful scrolled fork crown, and unfortuately the rediculous Astabula cranks Schwinn used all to often. The wheels were gone. I speculated it is about a 1965 bike based on brakes. I talked to a neighbor whom is about 55 and sure enough he had a Schwinn in that era. He told me he had a Campagnolo equipped Schwinn Gold Column. Yellow with leather saddle, alloy cranks, centerpull brakes, he could not remember much more but he insisted it was not a Super Sport or Paramount. Can any one enlighten me about either of these bikes? Brian in Berkeley
